Born in Brittany to a French father and an Irish mother, Jegou spent five years of his childhood in Ballyvaughan in Co Clare before moving to the east of France. Has already enjoyed success on the international stage, winning silver in the 2014 Junior World Championships, bronze in the 2019 U-23 World Championships, and gold in a World Cup event in November 2020. Only the second Irish C1 Olympian, after Michael Corcoran in Atlanta in 1996, who currently acts as his mentor. He currently lives and trains in Pau.
