Six points out of six from their two games over the weekend have lifted Railway Union in to second place in the Leinster first division, just two points behind leaders UCD who they play at Belfield next month. Saturday's 3-0 victory away to Loreto was the eye-catching result of the two, Nasir Munir's side following that up with a 4-0 win over Trinity yesterday.

Railway, then, move above both Loreto and Hermes in the table, Kate Dillon, Alex Speers and Julia O'Halloran getting their goals on Saturday before Dillon and O'Halloran again added to scores by Emer Lucey and Jean McDonnell for their defeat of Trinity.

Saturday's matches produced no joy at all for the five home teams, four of them losing and none of them managing to score. Nikki Evans, Sarah Robinson, Sarah Green and Emily Beatty combined to give UCD a comfortable afternoon against Glenanne, while Aine Connery and Eimear Horan sealed the points for Hermes at Pembroke Wanderers. Old Alexandra moved above Pembroke again in to fifth after Siobhán Neilson's goal proved enough to beat Trinity, while North Kildare picked up their first point of the season when they drew 0-0 with Corinthian.
