Current inter-provincial champions, Munster, have confirmed that former Australian international, John Langford, is to join them for the coming season. The 6 ft 6 in, 171/2 stone Langford may make his Munster debut against Welsh side, Dunvant, on Sunday next in Wales, and his home debut against Leinster in the opening match of the Guinness Inter-provincial series on Saturday, August 7th, in Musgrave Park.
Langford has a formidable rugby pedigree and has proved to be a major asset for his club, Gordon, and Super 12 team ACT Brumbies, with whom he has played 63 times. He made his test debut in 1997 against the All Blacks and toured with the Wallabies to Argentina and the UK in that year, playing in the final two tests. In addition to playing in the second row he has also played flanker.
Munster coach, Declan Kidney, said that he was looking forward to having a player with Langford's experience in the panel.
