Irish in Britain:

Sounds like it was just an average day at the office for Norwich City's Keith O'Neill on Saturday. In the 10th minute of their game away to Tranmere he earned the right to throw a wink in the direction of those Norwich supporters who still boo him every time he touches the ball, when he lobbed Tranmere's goalkeeper from 40 yards, to send his side on their way to a 3-1 victory.

But then he got himself booked and now faces a suspension, which might be served by the time he joins Leeds United in a £1.5 million move. Well, that's if you believe the latest transfer gossip.

One ex-Irish international who will definitely be leaving Carrow Road is Mike Milligan - the former Oldham and Everton midfielder, who has made just two appearances for Norwich this season, joined O'Neill on the transfer list on Thursday after asking manager Bruce Rioch for a move.

Niall Quinn made it six goals in seven games on Saturday, when he came on as substitute for Sunderland, but his 71st minute header wasn't enough to save his side from their first defeat of the season - Irish under-21 Sean McClare set up Barnsley's third and winning goal for Darren Barnard 10 minutes from the end.

In Division Two Irish central defender David Greene scored his fourth goal in as many games for Colchester, in their 3-1 win away to Notts County, while Irish under-18 captain Gary Doherty (who played in last week's under-19 win over Denmark) scored his first senior goal to give Luton a 2-2 draw at Lincoln.

Former Manchester United defender Brian Carey got his first goal of the season for Wrexham in a 3-2 defeat away to Oldham and in Division Three Tony Folan scored his third goal in two games - a swerving drive from 35 yards - in Brentford's 2-1 defeat by Leyton Orient in the London derby.

In France, that man Tony Cascarino was at it again on Friday - he scored his eighth goal of the season (his fifth in four matches) to give Nancy a 1-0 win over Le Havre in injury time. Cascarino now moves to third in the leading scorers' list (Bordeaux's Sylvain Wiltord is top with 10 goals) ahead of Fabrizio Ravanelli, Marco Simone and David Trezeguet, amongst others. What's that man eat for breakfast?
