The International Amateur Boxing Association (IABA) indicate on their website how much they value their boxers. Let's hope Belfast has a higher opinion in June when they host the World Championships.

According to American secretary Loring K Baker any association wishing to host the under 19 world championship event should provide the following as a minimum.

1. A personal car for the president, a personal car for the secretary general and a personal car for the two technical delegates.

2. First class round trip air fare for the president. Business class round trip air fare for the secretary general and ecconomy class round trip fare for 21 other officials. All the above in addition to 20 referees and judges would also be entitled to meals and lodging.

And what do the boxers receive ?

1. Free local transportation to and from the airport, venue and training site. Meals and lodgings at a reasonable rate which should be a maximum of $75.00 per day for double occupancy in rooms.

2. Oh yes, equipment in good working order.
