It's yet another quiet weekend on the hockey front with no senior fixtures in Munster and just three cup games of note in Leinster. Ulster, though, has a full league programme with Pegasus meeting early section one leaders Knock.
Second-division side Three Rock have the unenviable task of taking on Hermes at Belfield in the Leinster champions' first competitive outing since last season's All-Ireland league finals. Since then four players have joined the club to add strength in depth to an already formidable squad.
Rachel Petrie, the former New Zealand international and current Irish assistant coach, will fill the gap vacated by defender Sinead McDonnell, who has moved abroad, while the arrival of Jill Hodgins (ex-Cork Harlequins) brings the club's senior Munster contingent up to four (along with Fiona Connery, Johanna Hyland and Aisling Keane). Irish international Linda Caulfield and Dawn Kelly, who played with Trinity and UUJ respectively last season, have also returned to the club.
Old Alexandra and Pembroke Wanderers meet in the day's only all-first division tie as Alexandra's Nikki King comes up against former team-mates. The Clontarf-Muckross tie at Dardistown completes the day's cup fixtures.
