A reporter from the Guardian dropped in to a Kensington bar last week to canvass the locals' opinion on Michael Portillo, the likely Conservative candidate in the by-election caused by the death of MP Alan Clark. "Would you vote for him," the reporter asked one chap he found in the bar. "Not after saying he was gay, no way," declared none other than George Best. "I'm a man's man," he added. We're not quite sure George meant it as it sounded.
