Cork 6-16 Universtiy of Limerick 0-7
Cork eased to a McGrath Cup final against rivals Kerry with this one-sided win over UL on a heavy pitch in Mallow yesterday.
A Colm O’Driscoll goal after 37 seconds sent Cork on their way and a second from midfielder Micheal Ó Laoire after 15 minutes helped them lead 2-5 to 0-0.
Kerry’s Allstar James O’Donoghue was unlucky to see a cracking shot rebound off the inside of a post, but the students rallied to claim five points of their own.
However Paul Kerrigan scored Cork's third goal in injury-time for a 3-8 to 0-5 interval lead.
It was all Cork on the resumption as UL only managed two O'Donoghue frees with Cork responding with goals from Daniel Goulding in the 38th minute, substitute Barry O'Driscoll 11 minutes later and Goulding's second and Cork's sixth after 57 minutes.
