And here’s a wrap of today’s two Tailteann Cup semi-finals:
That’s all from me for live coverage of today’s games. There will be lots of coverage of this weekend’s action to come, including a report of the Donegal-Louth match that will be online shortly. There will also be plenty of discussion following tomorrow morning’s quarter-final draw. Thanks for joining us today.
Limerick will likely be underdogs for the Tailteann final, given Kildare’s reputation and the quality of some of their players. Limerick have been on some form this year though, winning Division Four and beating Westmeath to earn top spot in their group in the Tailteann Cup. Their manager Jimmy Lee was delighted with their comeback win over Wicklow today.
Brian McLoughlin was a bright spark in a fairly dour Tailteann Cup semi-final. Having only come off the bench in the second half, he was a deserving man of the match.
Here’s the breakdown of what teams that counties can draw tomorrow.
Having met Donegal in the Ulster final, and Dublin and Galway in the round robin, Armagh will be drawn against Kerry tomorrow. Tyrone and Donegal cannot be drawn together, and the same goes for Kerry and Meath.
Next week’s quarter-finals will be played between the group winners (Tyrone, Armagh, Monaghan and Meath) and this weekend’s preliminary quarter-final winners (Donegal, Galway, Dublin and Kerry).
Here’s Ciaran Thompson’s fantastic finish that put the game beyond reach for Louth.
Louth’s glorious summer that saw them win the Leinster Championship is over. For Donegal, this performance puts them back with the rest of the favourites in the quarter-finals.

65 Mins: Ó Baoill has been up and down constantly since his introduction. He adds another score. Donegal 2-20 Louth 0-11
63 Mins: Niall O’Donnell adds another score. Credit to Donegal, they haven’t dropped the intensity at all despite their huge lead. Mulroy gets a point for Louth. Donegal 2-19 Louth 0-11

Malachy Clerkin’s reaction from Newry, as Galway get through to the quarter-finals at the expense of Down:
Full-time: Galway 2-26 Down 3-21. Galway go through to the last eight but they got a bellyful of it from Down in Newry in another comically high-scoring game. Down were 10 points behind at half-time but had Galway under huge pressure from the get-go, landing a pair of two-pointers inside the opening 69 seconds of the second half. But although they got within two points of the visitors, they were never able to get any closer and a huge cameo from substitute Peter Cooke settled the Galway midfield. Pádraic Joyce’s side move on to the quarter-finals but like everyone else in Monday’s draw, they have their flaws.
Full-time: Wicklow 1-17 Limerick 2-18
Limerick are into the Tailteann Cup final!
68 Mins: Limerick ‘keeper Josh Ryan gets his side five points clear with an outstanding two-pointer. Wicklow 1-16 Limerick 2-18

1 Mins: The All-Ireland minor semi-final between Mayo and Kerry is underway. Kerry 0-0 Mayo 0-0
62 Mins: Limerick take the lead, but could have had even more if not for a wonderful Malachy Stone block. Wicklow 1-16 Limerick 2-14
Full-time: Down 3-21 Galway 2-26
70 Mins: An insurance score by Tierney, and Down won’t be able to catch them as the hooter goes. Down 3-19 Galway 2-26

68 Mins: Daniel O’Flaherty gets another score for Galway. Down 2-19 Galway 2-25

49 Mins: Dean Healy cracks over a two-pointer for Wicklow. Wicklow 1-16 Limerick 1-9

56 Mins: Back to a one score game in Newry. Daniel O’Flaherty is on for Galway. Down 1-17 Galway 1-20
44 Mins: Level in Croker again, another one point score for Wicklow. Wicklow 0-12 Limerick 1-9
53 Mins: As good as Down have been this half, they’ve also put a fair few wide, another two from Branagan and Magill. Down 1-16 Galway 1-20
52 Mins: Just four points in it now, with 18 minutes left. Down 1-16 Galway 1-20
40 Mins: Limerick pull ahead again, after Wicklow got level for a moment. Wicklow 0-11 Limerick 1-9

46 Mins: Galway hold onto the ball for a huge stretch, then Matthew Thompson finishes the move with a lovey strike over the bar. Peter Cooke on for Paul Conroy. Down 1-12 Galway 1-20

36 Mins: Miceal Rooney adds another two-pointer. Then Adam Crimmins has an effort on goal saved. Great start for Down. Down 1-10 Galway 1-16
35 Mins: Down get a two-pointer through Daniel Guinness just 20 seconds after the restart. Down 1-8 Galway 1-16
57 Mins: Tyrone have pulled away again, taking a seven point lead. Roscommon 1-8 Tyrone 2-12
Half-time: Wicklow 0-9 Limerick 1-7
33 Mins: Wicklow have managed this black card pretty well, one point in it still. Wicklow 0-8 Limerick 1-6
Here’s Malachy Clerkin’s half-time reaction from Newry:
Half-time: Galway 1-16 Down 1-6. A brilliant scoring burst just short of the break turned this one Galway’s way, maybe definitively so. Going into the 28th minute, Down were a point behind, 1-6 to 1-7, after responding well to a terrific Shane Walsh goal. But by the time they left the 32nd minute, they were 10 points in arrers, as Galway used the wind to their advangate in reeling off nine points in four minutes. Two-pointers from Walsh, Rob Finnerty and Matthew Thompson launched Galway into the distance. Down have the wind in the second half but 10 points may well be too many. Significantly, their star attacker Pat Havern has been superbly marshalled and hasn’t managed a single shot at the posts.
49 Mins: A penalty save and two points in a row could give Roscommon hope. Roscommon 1-8 Tyrone 2-9
Conor Laverty was still talking to the ref as the teams went in for half-time in Newry. Down aren’t happy about that Walsh goal.
27 Mins: Wicklow get a black card, but pull it back to a one point game with a two-pointer from Dean Healy. Wicklow 0-7 Limerick 1-5
Half-time: Down 1-6 Galway 1-16
42 Mins: Tyrone temporarily down to 14 after a black card. Roscommon 1-6 Tyrone 2-8
24 Mins: Limerick pull into a three point lead. Wicklow 0-5 Limerick 1-5
39 Mins: Tyrone point two frees. Roscommon 1-5 Tyrone 2-8
31 Mins: Shane Walsh puts the free over and then Matthew Thompson adds a point. Then he rifles a two-pointer over the black spot. Down 1-6 Galway 1-16
20 Mins: Wicklow’s Mark Jackson brings it back to a one point game with a free. Wicklow 0-5 Limerick 1-3
30 Mins: Suddenly, Shane Walsh is running the game. He pops another over, then wins the next kickout and races in, winning a potential two point free. But he looks to have damaged his shoulder there. Down 1-6 Galway 1-11
31 Mins: The minor semi final is back underway in Breffni. Roscommon 1-5 Tyrone 2-6
27 Mins: With the wind at his back, Shane Walsh kicks a two-pointer. Then he feeds it inside for another point from the next kickout. Down 1-6 Galway 1-10
16 Mins: Goal for Limerick! Danny Neville finishes low beyond Mark Jackson. Wicklow 0-4 Limerick 1-3
25 Mins: Down really have to work the ball in to get inside the scoring zone, playing against the wind here. Branagan, who was in as a blood sub, got on the ball four or five times, and then pointed. Down 1-6 Galway 1-7
23 Mins: Two in a row from Danny Magill on the left boot. Both lovely scores too. Down 1-5 Galway 1-7
12 Mins: Things are starting to open up in Croker, but it’s still even. Wicklow 0-3 Limerick 0-3
22 Mins: Down are not happy at all, Conor Laverty especially. Adam Crimmins was down with blood pouring out of his nose while that goal went in, and the ref could have halted play. Danny Magill scores a lovely point when play continues. Down 1-4 Galway 1-7
21 Mins: GOAL for Galway! Shane Walsh receives a direct ball in, slips his man and finishes with his right foot. Down 1-3 Galway 1-7
7 Mins: Both sides on the board in a low scoring opening in Croker. Wicklow 0-1 Limerick 0-1
Half-time: Roscommon 1-5 Tyrone 2-6.
Tyrone put a bit of distance between themselves and Roscommon just before half-time with a goal by Peter Colton.
16 Mins: Odhran Murdock levels things up with a nice left foot finish. He’s making hay today. Down 1-3 Galway 0-6
15 Mins: Massive save by Ronan Burns! Rob Finnerty’s effort was a good height for the Down ‘keeper, but it was a great save regardless. Down 1-2 Galway 0-6
2 Mins: Among all that chaos, Wicklow and Limerick have thrown in at Croke Park in the Tailteann Cup semi-finals. Wicklow 0-0 Limerick 0-0
13 Mins: GOAL for Down! John McGeough finishes low into the corner after Down break out of defence. Down 1-2 Galway 0-6
12 Mins: Matthew Tierney and Cillian McDaid add points for Galway. Then Finnerty raises an orange flag, he’s right up for this today. Down 0-2 Galway 0-6
26 Mins: The back of the net is rattled at both ends in Breffni. Roscommon 1-5 Tyrone 1-5
10 Mins: Huge goal chance for Down! Murdock blazes over from the 13 metre line, having tore through the Galway defence again. Finnerty gets his second to level things. Down 0-2 Galway 0-2
8 Mins: Chances at both ends here. Odhran Murdock raced through the centre but a weak effort fell short. Then Finnerty had a go from outside the two-point arc, but hit the post. Down 0-1 Galway 0-1
22 Mins: It’s an even contest so far in Breffni in the minor semi. Roscommon 0-5 Tyrone 0-5
4 Mins: John McGeough gets Down’s first score, fisting it over. Down 0-1 Galway 0-1
3 Mins: Rob Finnerty gets the scoring underway. Down 0-0 Galway 0-1
2 Mins: We’re off in Newry. Adam Crimmins replaces Eugene Branagan for Down. Galway line out as named beforehand. Down 0-0 Galway 0-0
Malachy Clerkin is at Down vs Galway, and has this for us just before throw-in:
Cracking day in Newry for the preliminary quarter-final between Down and Galway. The home side have made one change to their announced line-up, with Adam Crimmins coming in for Eugene Branagan. Galway are going to play as selected and - encouragingly for Pádraic Joyce’s side - Damien Comer looks to be rattling through a full warm-up. There’s a bit of a wind blowing straight down the pitch - Galway won the toss and will have it at their backs in the first half.
10 Mins: It’s been a flying start in Breffni Park, with both sides getting chances early. Roscommon 0-3 Tyrone 0-4
4 Mins: The first minor semi-final is underway with Tyrone and Roscommon both getting on the board early. Roscommon 0-1 Tyrone 0-1
Galway’s team to face Down, in what looks to be the most exciting of all the preliminary quarter-finals matchups this weekend.
And here’s Down’s lineup.
The first game today will throw in at 1:30pm, with Roscommon facing Tyrone in the All-Ireland minor semi-final at Breffni Park. The other semi final sees Mayo play Kerry, and that one throws in at 3.30pm in Cusack Park.
Here’s previews of the preliminary quarter-finals, as well today’s Tailteann Cup semi-finals, where Kildare meet Fermanagh and Wicklow clash with Limerick.
Yesterday’s preliminary quarter-finals both went to form, with Dublin and Kerry into the next round. One of the underdogs today, Down, could banana skin for a Galway side who qualified from their group in third. Paul O’Brien explains the strengths and weaknesses of this Down side, as they eye up a big shock.
[ Tactical analysis: Down will need to share scoring burden around more to knock out Galway ]
