Tuesday will see the draw for the Sam Maguire and Tailteann Cup take place. After the weekend’s championship action, we now know all of the teams in each competition and where they will be seeded, depending on the results of the provincial finals.
Prior to the weekend, six teams were faced with the possibility of participating in either competition: Westmeath, Kildare, Louth, Offaly, Cork and Down. And after their defeats, Kildare, Offaly and Down will all play in the second tier Tailteann Cup. That leaves Cork, Westmeath and Louth as the final three Sam Maguire teams, the latter securing their place by virtue of their victory over Kildare on Sunday.
In the Sam Maguire draw, the provincial finalists occupy the top two seeding positions. Whether they are seeded first or second will be determined by victory or defeat in the final.
The draws for the group stages of both competitions will take place next Tuesday, beginning at 3pm, live on gaa.ie and the GAA’s social media channels.
