First-Round Replays

Garda V Cobh Ramblers (Westmanstown, 1.45)

Garda have a couple of minor doubts for this replay but their manager, Gus Keating, is fairly hopeful that everybody will be ready by kick-off at lunchtime today when Garda will look to punish First Division Cobh Ramblers for allowing themselves to be brought back to Lucan.

"Yeah, they're clearly going to be worried having to travel up here now knowing that the opposition were a bit stronger than they'd expected and we feel that, if we reproduce the form we showed down there, we'll be a good bet to surprise them this time," said Keating.

Cobh assistant manager Philip Long doesn't dispute the suggestion that his side were a little taken aback by the competitiveness of their opponents in the first game but even without two of the players who figured prominently in that game - Anthony Kenneally and Pat Maher are both suspended - he thinks it will be different this time around.

"Well, there's certainly no pressure on them this time, that's all on us, but realistically a league team should win a game like this and while they did do very well down here that's what we'd be expecting to do."

Cobh's Paul Coughlan, who sat on the bench at the weekend after arriving late for the game, is in contention for a starting place while Keith Dalton may have recovered sufficiently from the flu to take some part.

Playing to meet: Sligo Rovers (away).

Betting: Home: 3/1, Draw: 9/4, Away: 5/6.

Referee: H Byrne (Dublin).

Belgrove V Finn Harps (Finn Park, 7.30)

After Sunday's draw, which handed the winners of this tie a trip to Cork in the second round, Belgrove's decision to concede home advantage to the Donegal-men for this replay on financial grounds appears even more rash.

Harps manager Charlie McGeever admits to being surprised by the decision, saying: "To be honest it's what our lads deserve, to be going to Dublin, after the way we let them away with it at the weekend but I thought somebody was having me on when I was told they were coming back here again."

McGeever, whose side had 80 per cent of the play in the drawn game, was happy with his defence but will make changes elsewhere which could mean Kevin McHugh getting a chance to come in, although Stephen Kelly may not start after requesting a transfer earlier this week.

Belgrove, meanwhile, have no injury or suspension problems and while manager Tony Macken reckons they were a little lucky to get out of Finn Park with the draw first time around he is not completely writing off his side's chances of pulling something off at the second attempt.

Playing to meet: Cork City (away).

Betting: Home: 8/1, Draw: 7/2, Away: 2/7.

Referee: P Whelan (Dublin).
