RACING:BRYAN COOPER has already enjoyed a good start to the new jumps season but the in-form young jockey can kick on with a vengeance at Kilbeggan this evening.

With 11 winners already this term the Kerry-born rider is in sixth place in the jockeys’ standings and Cooper can score a treble for his boss Dessie Hughes today.

Rockofinspiration and Eyre Apparent can both score maiden hurdle wins but there will also be plenty of interest in the fencing debut of Action Master in the Kieran Kelly Memorial Beginners Chase.

Victory in this race would mean a lot to Hughes and although Action Master concedes experience to Traffic Article and Goban Saor he is a better hurdler than them.

Noel Meade isn’t wasting any time getting Soul Of Aran out again for one of tomorrow’s maiden hurdles at Downpatrick. Soul Of Aran ran at Sligo only on Thursday when he was swamped in the closing stages behind Garryowen Oscar in a way that suggests this longer trip will suit him ideally. Gordon Elliott looks to have a strong team on duty in the North tomorrow and Court Lexi will be short odds to complete a treble for the trainer in the bumper.
