Women's Hockey Old Alexandra and Bandon have completed the line-up for the All-Ireland Club Championship quarter-finals by winning their respective play-offs on Saturday.
Both clubs meet Ulster sides in the last eight, with Bandon facing the unenviable task of taking on Pegasus, who will be seeking their sixth consecutive All-Ireland title.
Alexandra, not for the first time this season, had Trish Conway and Nikki King to thank for their Leinster play-off victory over Pembroke Wanderers, with Conway getting the game's only goal, from a short corner eight minutes before the break, and King preserving the lead 10 minutes from time when she saved Sarah Clarke's penalty stroke.
Alexandra twice lost 1-0 to Pembroke in the regular season, so this was a fine win, and perhaps a deserved one too, considering they finished six points clear of Pembroke in the table. They, then, take second place in Leinster and meet Ulster runners-up Ards in the quarter-finals.
Bandon, the Munster League runners-up, beat Connacht champions Galway 4-1 in the Club Championship preliminary tie in Limerick, with Karen Barry getting a hat-trick.
Pegasus II, meanwhile, won the Irish Junior Cup on Saturday, beating Three Rock 3-0 in the final at Belfield. Joanne Campbell opened the scoring before Michelle Rainey and Hilda Beamish added two more goals in the second half.
Ulster enjoyed yet more success at the All-Ireland Junior League finals, where Belfast Harlequins II took the title - Hermes II's hopes ended when they drew 1-1 with Wexford in their final game.
IRISH JUNIOR CUP FINAL (at Belfield) - Pegasus II 3 (J Campbell, M Rainey, H Beamish), Three Rock 0.
