Sir, – Some have recommended increased urbanisation as a remedy to a variety of problems, including commuter related emissions and poor rural broadband coverage. Unfortunately the exorbitant cost of urban housing means this is easier said than done, with “isolationism” being the only affordable option. One way to address urban housing shortages, and associated high costs, would be to ensure that all future urban residential development be of sufficient density by mandating minimum heights based on cost optimisation.
