Problems with property tax

Sir, – I cannot understand how, for the purposes of calculating the new household charge, Revenue thought it was an intelligent idea to group houses together into areas to assess their value, with no weighting whatsoever to the scope, size and condition of the property.

I live in a modest two-bedroom cottage with no driveway and a small back yard. I am in the same catchment as a house currently for sale with a guide price twice that which Revenue has assigned it, and has 13 bedrooms, 3,000sq ft of accommodation and a large front and rear garden. The mind boggles. – Yours ,etc,
