Sir, – A Leavy (June 27th) suggests that Dublin GAA should be split into the four county council areas.
I assume that my GAA team would be Dublin Dún Laoghaire Rathdown.
I don’t have any natural affinity with this entity or area. I am from Dublin, not Dún Laoghaire Rathdown. How would you vocally support a team called Dublin Dún Laoghaire Rathdown? What sort of chant would work with that mouthful?
I don’t expect the All-Ireland final result in years to come to be Tipperary South Riding 2-11 Dublin Dún Laoghaire Rathdown 3-9! – Yours, etc,
BRIAN CULLEN,
Rathfarnham,
Dublin 16.
Sir , – A Leavy is spot-on in highlighting Dublin’s population advantage in GAA matters. I hear the powers that be have plans to remedy the situation, including the division of London and New York into four units each.
In addition, Fifa should split China and India into four teams each in an effort to give less densely populated countries a chance of winning the World Cup. – Yours, etc,
EAMON ROHAN,
Sandymount,
Dublin 4.
