Sir, – Isn’t it noteworthy that businesses are giving important life lessons to students entering third-level and further education?

For instance, the lesson of constant price inflation, gouging and taking advantage – as demonstrated by an electronic devices retailer in Galway – where on Saturday a laptop was for sale for €600 and just seven days later when the student returned with his hard-earned cash, the price had remarkably increased to €700.

In fairness, the assistant did blame the management and did also try to offload a cheaper alternative.

Now the student is well prepared for what the future holds for him in Ireland before Australia calls. – Yours, etc,
