Sir, – Emer McLysaght laments the price difference between a house in Portugal and a Dublin apartment (“Every time I travel abroad I am gripped by the fear that Ireland is making a fool of me”, Life, May 17th).
Aside from the rural-urban difference, the minimum wage in Portugal is €820 per month. The grass is indeed greener. – Yours, etc,
