Two held after Dublin drug seizure

Two men are in custody following the seizure of drugs worth an estimated €500,000 in Dublin yesterday.

Gardaí said the "intelligence-led operation" was carried out by officers from the Garda national drugs unit assisted by local gardaí from Clondalkin.

Two cars were stopped close to Newlands Cross in Clondalkin yesterday afternoon and a large quantity of cannabis herb was discovered during a search of the vehicles.

Two men in their 30s were arrested at the scene. They are being detained at Clondalkin Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

In a follow-up operation, gardaí searched an apartment and a van in Clonsilla and recovered a further quantity of cannabis herb along with cannabis resin and cocaine.
