Three posts at senior level in Garda filled

The Government has announced the appointment of three new Assistant Commissioners of An Garda Síochána

The Government has announced the appointment of three new Assistant Commissioners of An Garda Síochána. The Assistant Commissioner post at the new Garda Traffic Corps has been awarded to Mr Eddie Rock, who vacates the chief superintendent post at the Dublin North Central Division.

Mr Gerry Kelly vacates the chief superintendent post in the Limerick Division and becomes Assistant Commissioner with responsibility for the Western Division, based in Galway.

Mr Martin Callinan moves from his role as chief superintendent of crime and security to Assistant Commissioner at Garda headquarters, Dublin, where he will have special responsibility for National Support Services.

Mr Rock (54) has been a chief superintendent since 1999. He is a native of Co Roscommon and is married with two children.

Mr Kelly (57) has been a chief superintendent since 2000. A native of Galway, he is married with three children. Mr Callinan (51) was appointed to the rank of chief superintendent in 2001. He is from Dublin and is married with three children.
