A six-person task force has been set up to advise the Government on the separation of Shannon airport from the Dublin Airport Authority and its integration with the property assets of Shannon Development.

The task force will comprise Alan Aherne, Declan Keane, Eamonn Brennan, Ed Hansom, Pat Dalton and Rose Hynes.

Ms Hynes is chairman of State-owned energy group Bord Gáis and a former executive with Shannon-based aviation leasing group GPA. She is also a former member of the Shannon Airport Authority, which had limited autonomy from the DAA.

Mr Aherne is a former adviser at the Department of Finance and is on the board of the Central Bank of Ireland.

Mr Hansom is connected to RBS Aviation Capital, having previously worked for GPA. Mr Keane was chairman of the interdepartmental working group report on mortgage arrears.

Mr Brennan is chief executive of the Irish Aviation Authority, while Mr Dalton is an executive with investment group One51 and a former member of the Cork Aviation Authority.

It is understood a representative from each of the departments of finance, transport and jobs will also join this group.
