SUMMER TIME may be officially arriving tomorrow with the clocks going forward at 1am, but Met Éireann is forecasting a cold, though mainly dry, weekend.

The national forecaster says today will start off bright and breezy with some sunny spells and scattered showers. However, by evening temperatures will drop and frost will develop in many areas.

Tomorrow is expected to be cold and bright, with outbreaks of rain likely to spread northwards over Munster and Leinster as the day progresses.

A number of sporting events are taking place throughout the country this weekend, including racing at Navan and the Magners League clash between Leinster and Connacht at the RDS Arena in Dublin.

Tomorrow the Alive Outside duathlon takes place at the Phoenix Park in Dublin. To accommodate the event Acres Road, Upper Glen Road and the Chapelizod Gate will be closed from 9am to noon.

Elsewhere, the Midlands Motor Club Rally will take place throughout the midlands from 8.30am to 6.30pm tomorrow leading to a number of road closures. Diversions will be in place.

In terms of entertainment, Waterford-born musician Gilbert O’Sullivan will perform at the Grand Canal Theatre in Dublin tonight, while Wild Beasts are on at the Academy and The Unthanks will be in Whelan’s tomorrow evening.

Elsewhere, the Antiques Fair is taking place at the RDS main hall today and tomorrow and motorists are warned to expect delays in the Ballsbridge area.
