For the first time, more than a billion mobile apps have been sold in the space of a week, according to analytics firm Flurry.
The ground-breaking feat took place in the last week of December, due to a huge number of new mobile devices being received as Christmas presents.
On average around 2,000 apps a second were being downloaded during the week, mostly in the US, where over 500 million apps were downloaded, which is roughly an app and a half for every American citizen.
