Remanded in custody: four in court over foiled hold-up

FOUR MEN have been charged following a failed attempt to rob a cash-in-transit van at Lucan, Co Dublin, in May last year.

John Boylan (23), Foxdene Avenue, Clondalkin, Dublin, Darren Keane (24), also Foxdene Avenue, Derek Hutch (25), Chapel Farm Avenue, Lusk, Co Dublin and his cousin Gareth Hutch (29), Drumalee Avenue, North Circular Road, Dublin, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court yesterday faced with charges related to the attempted armed robbery.

Each man was charged with possession of a sawn-off shotgun at Foxborough Road, Lucan, on May 15th last year, and with attempting to rob a Securicor van as it was delivering money to an ATM at a Centra shop.

The men were all remanded in prison until May 17th when they will appear again at Blanchardstown District Court.

During the foiled robbery, undercover gardaí shot and killed Gareth Molloy (27), from Sheriff Street, Dublin.
