MUSIC FANS attending this weekend’s Oasis concert at Slane Castle have been warned against buying tickets from unofficial sources with security checks to identify forgeries.

Promoter MCD said every ticket will be checked on Saturday and those with counterfeit tickets faced being turned away, or even prosecuted.

Concertgoers were also issued with a list of dos and don’ts for the sold-out gig in Co Meath. Banned items include fold-up and blow-up chairs, umbrellas, spikes, studs and other dangerous items, glass, cans and alcohol of any kind.

Crowd-surfing is forbidden, overnight camping has been banned and no queuing is allowed before midday. Gates will open at 2pm on Saturday, with the first act, The Blizzards, taking to the stage at 3pm. Glasvegas are due to go on at 4pm ahead of Kasabian at 5.30pm and The Prodigy at 7pm.

Headline act Oasis, who last played at Slane as a support act for REM in 1995, are due on stage at 8.30pm.

Bathing has been prohibited between Stackallen bridge and 1km downstream from Slane bridge, and fans have been reminded that there is no access to the castle from the river.

Security in the area will be tight, particularly since two people drowned at Slane in 1995 during the REM concert.

Dublin Bus will operate a service between noon and 6pm leaving from Parnell Square west in the city centre.

Parking for those with impaired mobility will be available beside the concert site.
