O'Mahony named new IDA chairman

The former chief executive of CRH Liam O’Mahony has been appointed as the new chairman of IDA Ireland.

The former chief executive of CRH Liam O’Mahony has been appointed as the new chairman of IDA Ireland.

Announcingthe appointment this morning, Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mary Coughlan said Mr O'Mahony experience and knowledge would "contribute to the further development and enhancement of foreign direct investment in Ireland."

Mr O’Mahony, who takes over the position of chairman from John Dunne, has over 37 years professional experience in a variety of senior management positions, including chief executive of CRH's US operations and managing director of the Republic of Ireland and UK group of companies.

Born in Tipperary and educated at De La Salle in Waterford, University College Cork, Trinity College Dublin and the Kings Inns, he is currently a non-executive director of CRH and of Project Management
