A MAN charged with the murder of 35-year-old nurse Loradena Pricajan was yesterday remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court next week.

Mihalache Marian (48), from Romania, was charged with murdering Ms Pricajan, also from Romania, in an apartment in the grounds of the Irish Management Institute in Sandyford. Ms Pricajan was found stabbed to death in the apartment at about 8.30am last Thursday.

Giving evidence of arrest and charge at Dún Laoghaire District Court, Det Sgt Eugene Stapleton of Dundrum Garda station said he arrested the accused at 8.58pm on Tuesday and he was charged a half-hour later.

Det Sgt Stapleton told Judge Anne Ryan that when charged, Mr Marian replied: “I did not kill Loradena Pricajan and I have nothing else to say.”

Solicitor for Mr Marian, Kevin Tunney, asked Judge Ryan for legal aid for his client. He also asked the court to order a psychiatric assessment of the accused. The court agreed.
