Trading in Dublin was light as the index eased marginally ahead this morning before reaching midday off two points on 5,693.5.
The leading financials continued their mixed showing from yesterday with AIB up 19 cents to euro 11.92, Bank of Ireland ahead six cents on 10.21 and First Active up a cent to euro 2.55.
But Irish Life and Permanent dropped 14 cents to euro 12.35 while Anglo Irish Bank dropped 13 cents to euro 3.62.
Following gains by Vodafone in London yesterday Eircom added five cents to euro 2.55 by mid-session. Vodafone was ahead in London this afternoon on £2.16 sterling.
Food stocks regained some of yesterday’s losses as Glanbia added three cents to euro 0.58, Kerry rose 20 cents on euro 12.70 while Golden Vale was unchanged at euro 0.79.
Elan dropped 100 cents to euro 60.25; Galen added 46 cents to euro 14.51 and Ryanair shed 10 cents to 10.50 by midday.
