Gardaí investigating an attempted €1 million armed robbery in Lucan last month in which a raider was shot dead have arrested a man in connection with the incident.
The man was arrested in the Foxdene estate, Lucan, this morning and is being detained at Lucan Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
Gareth Molloy (28), Sheriff Street, Dublin died in hospital after he was shot by Gardaí who intercepted the gang on May 15th as they were about to rob a G4S cash-in-transit van delivering an estimated €1 million to a Centra shop ATM in the Foxborough estate, Lucan, Co Dublin.
Another raider was wounded in the incident.
It was reported that one of the men fired a shot from a sawn off shotgun to intimidate the G4S van crew before gardaí moved in.
Four men were arrested in the vicinity of the crime scene but were released from custody without charge after being held for 72 hours.
The Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission is investigating the incident.
A youth in his late teens was also arrested for unrelated offences. He is being detained at Ronanstown Garda Station.
