A man arrested in Co Donegal last night over the murder of a mother of four in Northern Ireland has been taken to hospital.

A man arrested in Co Donegal last night over the murder of a mother of four in Northern Ireland has been taken to hospital.

Jean Quigley (30) was murdered at her home in the Shantallow area of Derry on July 26th.

The 36-year-old was arrested by gardaí in Donegal town yesterday evening and was taken to Ballyshannon Garda station.

Before being questioned, he complained of feeling ill and was taken to a local hospital.

A Garda spokesman said that the man was now being held under police guard in hospital, and that it was not known how long he would be there.

The Garda were co-operating with the PSNI on the case when he was arrested.

Ms Quigley, who was pregnant with her fifth child, was beaten to death in the upstairs bedroom of her home at Cornshell Fields. Her body was found at 8.45pm on Saturday, although police believe she could have been killed up to 24 hours before the discovery.

She is survived by her four children whose ages range from four to 12 years.
