Man dies after weekend attack

A 22-year-old man who was seriously injured in an incident in Fairview at the weekend has died in hospital.

A 22-year-old man who was seriously injured in an incident in Fairview at the weekend has died in hospital.

The man, who was attacked on the edge of Fairview Park at Marino Mart on the northside of the city at 3.30am on Sunday, died this afternoon at Beaumont Hospital.

His identity has not yet been released.

Gardaí have appealed to the public for help in the case and have issued a description of a suspect who is sought in relation to the attack. The suspect male, is approximately 22-years-old and is thought to be about 5'10" in height. Gardaí added that he has dark hair and tanned skin.

Gardai in Clontarf are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which occurred in the middle of the road opposite the Marino College, to come forward.

In a statement issued this evening, gardaí repeated a call made earlier this week for taxi drivers, shift workers and patrons of Barcode Night Club and anyone who may have been in the area to make contact with Gardai with any information which may assist in their investigation.
