In a separate surveillance operation led by the Garda drugs unit but also involving officers from Revenue’s Customs service, some 25kg of herbal cannabis were seized in guest accommodation in Dublin’s north inner city.

The drugs, with an estimated street value of €300,000, were seized following routine profiling of a British national who arrived in Ireland from South Africa.

The woman in her 40s is being held under the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking Act) 1996, at Pearse Street Garda station.
