Man (23) dies in motorcycle crash

A 23 year-old man died when his motorcycle was involved in a collision in Co Louth in the early hours of this morning.

A 23 year-old man died when his motorcycle was involved in a collision in Co Louth in the early hours of this morning.

The collision, which did not involve another vehicle, happened at 2.30 am on at Killany, Co Louth.

It is understood the motorcycle left the road and crashed into a ditch. 

The  motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to Louth County Hospital were a post mortem examination will be carried out.

Gardaí have named the man who died in a collision in Co Clare late on Friday night. Patrick Meehan (70) of Lakisle, O Callaghans Mills, Co Clare, was driving one of two vehicles involved in the crash. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Ennis Regional Hospital.

The male driver of the second vehicle, a jeep, did not receive any injuries in the collision which happened at around 11.30pm at the junction of O Callaghan Mills Road and the Scariff to Ennis Road in Tulla.
