A NUMBER of items, including wine and household goods, owned by missing solicitor Michael Lynn were sold at auction in Dublin yesterday.
Some 40 lots of wine and a damaged Sony flatscreen television were sold by Herman and Wilkinson Auctioneers on behalf of the Dublin city sheriff. The items were seized during a raid by the sheriff on Mr Lynn's house in St Alban's Park, Sandymount, Dublin 4, last January.
The highest price paid for Mr Lynn's items was €220 for 11 bottles of the French wine St Emilion Grand Cru 2001. A half-case of South African wine Warwick Estate sold for €100, while a half-case of Mulderbosch, also from South Africa, sold for €100. A bidder paid €150 for the Sony television.
The sheriff seized the items on foot of a court order obtained by one of at least 10 financial institutions owed more than €80 million by the solicitor. The proceeds of the auction will be used to pay down a small part of the multimillion euro debt owed to the bank that obtained the order.
Mr Lynn's Sandymount house and a large number of his rental properties around the country have also been put on the market in an effort to repay his debts.
The solicitor, who is at the centre of a multitude of legal actions over his property dealings, has not appeared in the High Court since last December, when he failed to turn up for a cross-examination by the Law Society in its case against him.
However, Mr Lynn has indicated that he will act as a witness for one of his former clients in their case against First Active, which is unconnected to the various legal actions he is facing.
