A Co Carlow restaurant, a family hotel in Rosslare and a Michelin-starred restaurant in Dublin were among the winners in the 2011 Georgina Campbell Awards announced today.

Henry Stone of Shae-Roe Bistro in Clonegal, Co Carlow, won the Chef of the Year award and was described as "an unsung hero" by the food critic and author Georgina Campbell.

The Restaurant of the Year award went to Dublin's L'Ecrivain, which celebrated its 21st year in business this year.

Kelly's Resort Hotel in Rosslare won the Hotel of the Year Award, as well as the Wine Award of the Year and the Best Hotel Breakfast of the Year Award.

China Sichuan, in Sandyford, Dublin, which recently reopened after a six-month closure, won the ethnic restaurant award.

Announcing the winners, Ms Campbell said the award scheme was completely independent. All visits were made anonymously and assessors paid their way like any other customer would. The awards were announced in conjunction with the launch of the online hospitality guide www.ireland-guide.com. A new version of its iPhone app is due to go live later this year.
