Gardaí in Charleville, Co Cork, are appealing for witnesses to a road crash which has left a 33-year-old male pedestrian in a serious condition in hospital.

The incident happened at about 3.20am on Sunday morning on the Cork to Limerick road (N20) at Deerpark, Charleville. A car collided with a male pedestrianwho was seriously injured and taken to Cork University Hospital.

The 46-year-old male driver and other occupants of the car were uninjured.

The road is closed for a technical examination and will remain so until lunchtime. Local diversions are in place.
