Two teenagers rescued on Co Kerry coast

Youths treated for hypothermia and bruises after becoming trapped on Nun’s Strand

Two teenagers were rescued by Coast Guard and local emergency units after getting into difficulty on Nun’s Strand, Co Kerry, earlier today.

The 16-year-old and 17-year-old were trapped on the beach by the rising tide.

Ballybunion Sea and Cliff Rescue and the Ballybunion Coast Guard unit were called to the scene, where the two youths were rescued by members of the Sea Rescue.

The youths were treated for mild hypothermia and cuts and bruises following the incident.

They were later airlifted to Kerry General Hospital by the Shannon Coast Guard.
