Eight people have been rescued from a fire in a Dublin city centre building this morning.

The fire at Thomas Court, in the south inner city, was reported shortly after 3am.

Three adults and five children were taken from the building by Dublin Fire Brigade officers, including one adult and two children who were rescued with the aid of a ladder from a second-floor room.

The people rescued are being treated for smoke inhalation at James's Hospital and Tallaght Hospital.
