A schoolbus has crashed in Co Wicklow and some secondary school pupils have been taken to hospital.

The incident occurred at about 8am on the Marlton Road just off the N11 near Wicklow town.

The 52-seater schoolbus rear-ended a van causing the closure of one of the lanes on the road.

Gardaí say only two children were treated at the scene for minor injuries, but the principal of Dominican College in Wicklow town, Lorraine Mynes, confirmed that two pupils from her school were taken to hospital.
