Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist died in Rathfarnham, Dublin, on Tuesday.
The cyclist has been named locally as Padraic Carney (53) who was the principal of St Louis Primary school in Rathmines, South Dublin .
Students in the primary school are aged between eight and 12, and the school is located on Williams Park, in Rathmines, Dublin 6.
The principal was cycling from his home to the school down Butterfield Park road in Rathfarnham when he was in collision with a car at a junction. Mr Carney is believed to have lived in the Rathfarnham area.
The collision occurred at 8.10am on Tuesday morning, June 20th.
Following the crash Mr Carney was taken to Tallaght hospital and was pronounced dead on Tuesday night. The driver of the vehicle is not believed to have been injured in the traffic collision.
Garda investigators examined the scene, and the local coroner has been notified.
