Six twenty-something financial service workers have scooped €500,000 on the National Lottery’s EuroMillions Plus draw.

It was the first time they played the lottery together as a syndicate and they have won €83,000 each.

The members of the syndicate, Brendan Treacy, Cathal Lorigan, David Byrne, Conor Byrne, David Morris and Cian Brady, all work in the asset management section of PwC in Dublin's Docklands.

“We work hard, but I wouldn’t say we were rolling in it,” said Brendan Treacy.

They found out on Friday evening at 10.30pm that they had won the money in the EuroMillions Plus draw and went to collect it today.

The winning €18 quick pick ticket was bought in Spar at Gandon House in Custom House Square near the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC).

The six plan to pay off existing loans, have a holiday and help their family and friends.

Mr Treacy said they have no plans for a party as of yet. “We might enjoy ourselves, but we all have good heads on us. I’d like to think we are sensible enough.”

Tomorrow the EuroMillions jackpot will be an estimated €140 million.
