A search for a Co Armagh angler missing since a fishboat capsized on Thursday has ended for the evening.

Search and rescue teams started searching the water and shoreline shortly after 9am. Today’s search involved divers, the Lough Ree life boat and local fishermen.

The search is due to resume at 11am tomorrow.

Darryl Burke (30) from Portadown has not been seen since a fishing boat he was in capsized in poor weather.

One of his friends, David Warnock (27) from Richhill, Co Armagh, died after he was rescued from the lake.

A third man, John Trimble (60) is stable in hospital. All three belonged to a Co Armagh angling club.

More than 200 people attended a vigil in Portadown last night in support of the families affected.

Mr Warnock, a former captain of Armagh Hockey Club, was engaged with a four-year-old son.

He had been due to play in a league cup final next Saturday. That is now likely to be postponed as a mark of respect.
