A protest at the offices of auctioneers Allsop Space in Dublin has ended peacefully.

A group of approximately 25 people from the group Friends of Banking Ireland, led by developer Jerry Beades, earlier this evening entered the Ballsbridge office and demanded to speak to one of the auctioneer’s senior shareholders Stephen McCarthy.

Allsop Space is scheduled to hold an auction at the RDS tomorrow featuring 182 properties with a combined reserve price of €30 million.

A number of auctions held by Allsop Space featuring distressed properties have been interrupted by protest groups.

One such sale in July of last year was cancelled because of a protest by a group who said they were angry at the sale of family homes repossessed by banks.

Tomorrow’s auction will now go ahead as planned at 9am.

A spokesman for Allsop Space said this followed the signing of an agreement between the auctioneers and Friends of Banking Ireland that no properties in future will be offered for sale where there is a legal dispute in connection with the proposed sale between the registered owner (being the borrower) and the bank/receiver.
