The capital’s film community gathered in the Light House cinema last night for the launch of the programme for the 12th Jameson Dublin International Film Festival.

Cast members of John Butler's Irish comedy The Stag – a ribald romp concerning a groom's last weekend on the rip – were in Smithfield to announce the line- up. As many as 132 films are to be screened, there will be 13 gala events and 17 new Irish features will receive premieres.

This year’s guests include actors Richard Dreyfuss, Terry Gilliam, John Hurt and Jason Priestley. The event will give attendees the chance to have a first glance at new films by the likes of Wes Anderson, Jonathan Glazer and Richard Ayoade.

The festival opens on February 13th with John Michael McDonagh's Calvary and ends on February 22nd with The Stag.

McDonagh’s film stars Brendan Gleeson as a decent priest stuck in an awful moral bind and has just received rave reviews from its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.

Among the tastier high- lights this year is the Irish premiere of Wes Anderson's much-anticipated Grand Budapest Hotel and Jonathan Glazer's intriguing Under the Skin, starring Scarlett Johansson.
