Detectives in Northern Ireland are investigating a "paramilitary style" shooting that took place in Derry last night .
A man (33) was shot several times in the abdomen and legs in the Lisfannon Park area of Derry.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) believe four men were involved in the shooting, which took place at 9.35pm on Tuesday evening.
The victim was taken to hospital and the wounds were described as "serious" but are not believed to be life threatening, according to a spokeswoman for the PSNI.
The spokeswoman for the Northern Irish police force confirmed the victim “sustained four gunshot wounds” in the attack.
Detective Sergeant Phelan is leading the investigation into the shooting, and appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
“We believe four masked men were involved in this brutal and horrific attack and we would ask for the community’s help in identifying those individuals” he said.
