Gardaí in Cork have appealed to the public for assistance after a man suffered serious injuries during an aggravated burglary in the Bishopstown area this morning.

Three masked men armed with iron bars burst in through the back door of a house in Curraheen and attacked a 37-year-old man who was asleep upstairs in the house.

The incident happened around 6.30am this morning and although there were others in the house, no one else was injuried. It’s unclear if anything was taken.

The man was taken to Cork University Hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries to his head as well as a broken arm.
