Man (70) killed in single-vehicle crash in Monaghan

Driver’s car left the road at Glaslough between 6pm on Thursday and 5am on Friday

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a crash in Co Monaghan on Thursday night in which a 70-year-old man was killed.

The man, who was driving alone, suffered fatal injuries when his car left the road at Coolcollid in Glaslough sometime between 6pm on Thursday and 5am yesterday.

He was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where a post mortem is to be carried out. The road was closed for a time to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. This has been completed and the road has reopened.
