Actor Paul Rudd has described Ireland as "hands down" the best country in the world.
The 45-year-old star of Knocked Up, I Love You Man and Anchorman 2 expressed his effusive love for Ireland in an interview on the David Letterman Show.
Rudd spent time in Donegal, which he pronounced as Don-egal rather than Done-egal, with some friends while promoting Anchorman 2 earlier this year.
Two of his friends decided to have a joint stag weekend in Ireland and they were being shown around by a relation of the Irish actor Brian O’Byrne.
“Ireland is the best place on Earth. It is hands-down, the best country, the greatest place,” he told Letterman.
Rudd and some friends rented out a house. The Irish Film Board gave four of them Irish football shirts with numbers on the back. Rudd was No.2.
He recalled going out in “a little fishing village called Killybegs” on a drinking session and put on the shirt.
He was told by some locals that only one player was allowed to wear the No.2 jersey in Killybegs and that was Donegal-native and Ireland international Seamus Coleman.
Later in a restaurant an angry man approached him and said: “Only one person wears No.2 in this town and that is my son”.
The person turned out to be Seamus Coleman's father Henry Coleman who later told Rudd that he was winding him up.
