International Mushroom Festival 2013 - Killegar Estate, Co Leitrim
A focus on all things fungi, the festival (today and tomorrow) will see mushroom experts, enthusiasts and cooks descend on this tranquil part of Ireland to "exchange scientific knowledge and celebrate our natural environment".
The native woodland will also offer the opportunity to forage and appreciate the mushroom's role in the ecological cycle, while cookery demonstrations will be given by Joe Shannon, executive head chef of the Classiebawn Restaurant
in Sligo.

Open House Galway
This weekend's Open House Galway event (today and tomorrow) will feature, among numerous attractions, a cycling tour of iconic 1950s buildings, illustrated talks, and exhibitions.

National Organic Food Fair, Marlay Park, Dublin.
Clodagh McKenna will hold free public cooking demonstrations at this inaugural food fair which takes place from 10.30am to 4.30pm tomorrow (demonstrations from 12.30pm to 2pm).
A celebration of the world of naturally produced food, the day will see a variety of stalls and stands displaying every type of titbit imaginable.
And for those very serious about what they eat, practical displays, tastings and talks will take place on everything that makes the organic food world so appetising.

ISPCC Run A Muck
Challenge, Clonkeeran House, Kildare
The children's charity cross country event, taking place today, features a 5km/10km course over a wet and mucky course with various "man-made and natural obstacles like bale jumps, net scrambles, super slides, Tarzan swings, bridges, ditches, streams, tyres and tunnels". www.ispcc.ie.
Galway Jazz Festival 2013
Coming to a conclusion tomorrow, the 2013 Galway Jazz Festival still has
a few notes up its sleeve.
Remaining performances include pianist and singer Olivia Trummer and the Galway Youth Jazz Orchestra today and the closing Festive Finale tomorrow, featuring local musicians and special guests.
