An elderly woman has died after a crash involving two vehicles in Malahide, Co Dublin.

The collision happened on the Coast Road at about 3pm yesterday.

The woman (78) died at Beaumont Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the incident.

A man (79) who she was travelling with received non-life threatening injuries and is being treated at the same hospital.

Two women who were travelling in the second vehicle, aged 22 and 59, were also taken to hospital with non-serious injuries.

A post-mortem is to be carried out on the body of the deceased woman.
